Call to Prayer

November 4, 2015 by Pastor Jim Smith 0 comments

North Hills Family,

I look forward to gathering again this Sunday for corporate worship where we Read the Word, Preach the Word, Pray the Word, Sing the Word, and See the Word. What a privilege it is that Christ purchased us so we could exalt Him and experience transformation through these means which He has ordained.

Last Sunday we were reminded that as Christians we, like the priests and Levites of old, are called to respond to who God is and what He has done with heartfelt, enthusiastic praise. Thank you, Nic , for this clear reminder of our identity in Christ and call to worship. And Ron left us with an exhortation to pray for what God is building at North Hills Christian Church. We realize that as important as structure and planning are, nothing significant happens unless God's people humbly and passionately call out to Him in prayer.

James 4:2 - "...You do not have because you do not ask."
James 5:16 - "...The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."

Therefore, this Sunday after welcome and announcements, I will lead us in a time of crying out to God together asking Him to help us through His power and presence to grow individually and corporately in the areas of WORSHIP, FELLOWSHIP, and MINISTRY. Please prepare for this time by assessing your own growth in each of these areas. Ask yourself questions like this: ' Am I spending consistent time in God's presence through reading His Word and responding in prayer?' Am I intentionally building God-centered relationships where we bear one another's' burdens and grow together in loving friendship?' 'Am I using my time, talent (gifting), and treasure ($) to minister to those in the church and those in the world who don't know Christ?'

Obviously we ALL need to grow in these areas and we grow best when together we depend on His forgiveness and grace rather than our own sheer willpower. So please come prepared and on time (Sorry gang, we're kind of slipping in this area.) to seek God in this way.

Lastly, Nic will wrap up our sermon series on October 25 looking at practical ways we can implement principles from Ezra and Nehemiah as a church heading toward 2016. He will share where we are as a church and where we believe God is leading us, including information about our budget which members will be voting on November 8. Please make every effort to attend these next two Sundays as we pray for revival, trusting God to complete the work He has begun through us at North Hills.

For His glory and our joy,
