Domestic Missions

alpharun2013Alpha Pregnancy Center

Since 1986, Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center has been helping young women in crisis and considering abortion. They rely a great deal on volunteers to keep their facility operational and to provide medical services, counseling, education, resources, referrals, and most importantly the love of Christ to the women of Solano County who thought they had no other alternative.
North Hills is partnering with Alpha PRC to raise funds as well as join their volunteer force. There are a number of ways to get involved as a volunteer, from client services, to building maintenance and cleaning, to administrative help. If you are interested in finding out how you can use your gifts and skills to help, please contact the church office. North Hills periodically joins Alpha's Baby Bottle Campaign where each family will have the opportunity to collect money in a baby bottle to donate to the program. Prayer Requests:

  • For women in crisis that they would turn to Alpha
  • That women would find hope and love in Christ regardless of decisions they have made
  • Continued financial and volunteer provision for the Center

When crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and friends for support. But for some families there is no safety net. Often, a straight foward problem such as domestic crisis or unemployment can be debilitating. Crisis of this nature can temporarily jeopardize parents' ability to provide safety and stability for their children. But now an exciting collaboration between Safe Families for Children and local churches, like North Hills, give parents experiencing a crisis hope.

Through Safe Families for Children, parents can arrange for their children to stay with a pre-screened family while they focus on resolving crisis situations and work to bring stability back to their home. The program is designed to extend and strengthen the community safety net for at-risk families. SFFC is a positive alternative to the state welfare system, giving parents freedom to work through their problems without the worry of losing child custody. SFFC is fast becoming a national model for communities that want to expand their care of at-risk children.

The Safe Families ministry in our area is already having to turn away families and children in need of help! The North Hills body is in need of people to volunteer in a number of ways, including prayer, meals, babysitting, tutoring, mentoring, donating supplies, services for families (ie. handyman, mechanic), and especially temporarily taking in children to prevent abusive situations and help families in crisis regain stability. This life changing ministry is truly the love of Christ in action. If you are interested in more information or how your gifts can be used, contact the church office.
